Honey Lemon Maskeven skin discoloration & moisturize

honey

Benefits

This mask packs a one two punch by providing both skin hydration and discoloration correction. Honey is a natural antioxidant with antibacterial properties. It also hydrates skin because honey is a humectant (it promotes and retains moisture). Lemons are filled with AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHA’s (beta hydroxy acids) which remove dead skin cells, blackheads, blemishes and discoloration. It evens out the skin tone and helps soften the appearance of scarring.

What you’ll need:
½ Lemon
2 teaspoons of honey

Application

Mix two teaspoons of honey and half a squeezed lemon into a bowl until you obtain a consistent syrup. Apply mask to freshly cleansed face avoiding the eye area. Do not exfoliate your skin before the application of the mask as it will become too sensitive for the citric acid of the lemon. Allow your skin to absorb all of the mask’s enhancing properties for 20 minutes once a day. Rinse with warm water finishing with a few cold splashes of water to seal your pores. Complete the treatment with application of a serum or moisturizer.

Brown Sugar and Raw Honey Scrubexfoliate

brown-sugar-

Benefits

Sugar makes an excellent topical exfoliant for the face and body. Exfoliation is a necessary component of skincare because it brushes away the dead surface skin cells to reveal the radiant and healthier skin that lies beneath. Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid (found in many posh skin care lines). Glycolic acid promotes cell regeneration giving the appearance of fresher more youthful skin. Using a brown sugar scrub improves your skin’s ability to retain its natural moisture balance.
Raw honey is a great counterpart to the brown sugar in this scrub. It plays the role of adding moisture to prevent skin irritation or dryness.

What you’ll need:

1 tablespoon of raw honey
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
3 drops of oil (olive, almond or tea tree oil)

Application

Mix the raw honey, brown sugar and 3 drops of your chosen oil to make the scrub more manageable. Apply the scrub in an upward circular motion for 1-3 minutes. Remove the mixture with a warm damp cloth. Follow with a cold rinse of water to close your pores. Moisturize as the final step. This can be repeated 1-2 times per week.
